February 19, 2009, Quezon City - The Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development (FIT-ED) inks a Memorandum of Agreement with Go! Organic Philippines through the La Liga Policy Institute, for the 2nd phase of its Education for All Thru Radio Project. The partnership marks the launch of the radio drama entitled “Si Lani at ang Pangako ng Lupa”, about the fight of a widow and her family to keep their farm.
The 14-episode radio drama is one segment of the radio program “Go Organic!” airing on DZRB Radyo ng Bayan, every Sunday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. “Go Organic!” under the Organic FIELDS Support Program Phase 1, is a partnership project of the Go! Organic consortium with the Department of Agriculture. The radio-drama will feature the day to day struggles of a rural agrarian family as they discover new and alternative ways of farming through organic agriculture and how they try these out to save their only means of livelihood.
The EFAR project of FIT-ED aims to harness radio as an effective medium for expanding access to education particularly in remote and otherwise marginalized areas in the country. FIT-ED initiated EFAR in 2007, with a 16-episode science and mathematics literacy radio program targeted at elementary science and math teachers of the Department of Education. FIT-ED is a private non-profit organization established in 1997 that seeks to help communities to harness information and communication technologies (ICTs) for learning. Go! Organic Philippines is a consortium of non-government and farmers’ organizations advocating for sustainable agriculture through organic farming. |
